2024 NFL Draft Round 1: Winners And Losers

Thursday night’s first round of the 2024 NFL Draft brought a number of enticing fantasy football landing spots. Let’s take a look at which players find themselves winners as a result of landing spot, and which are losers.

Winner: Michael Penix, Jr., Falcons

Penix finds himself at the helm of an exciting young Falcons offense with Drake London, Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, and Darnell Mooney as a surrounding cast. Even better, Kirk Cousins will provide excellent advice on the field (teaching Penix how to throw a ball accurately for the first time) and off the field (teaching Penix how to wisely spend his Kohl’s cash for optimal discounts).

Loser: Caleb Williams, Bears

Williams got the most brutal draw in the entire league by going #1 overall to the Chicago Bears, followed by the pick of WR Rome Odunze. Williams must now keep Odunze, Keenan Allen, and D.J. Moore happy all at the same time. This will prove excruciatingly difficult when all 3 receivers request trades for not getting enough targets in training camp and then start tweeting eyeball emojis the week of the trade deadline.

Winner: Ricky Pearsall, 49ers

Pearsal will be matched up with opponents’ lowest-ranked corners all game. The better secondary defenders will be busy guarding Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Jauan Jennings, and blitzing Super Bowl finalist Brock Purdy all game, leaving Pearsall wide open. This happens as long as the 49ers don’t trade Samuel or Aiyuk, Kittle actually runs a route, McCaffrey doesn’t have an ankle issue, and Purdy plays well.

Loser: Malik Nabers, Giants

Nabers has to catch passes from Tommy DeVito this season.

Winner: Xavier Legette, Panthers

Legette will live every WRs dream as the perennial underdog, as no sports fan takes his college stats, teammates, or the entire Carolina Panthers front office seriously.

Loser: Marvin Harrison, Jr., Cardinals

Harrison will have a tall task ahead of him – not getting caught up in sexual scandals with the promiscuous retirees that currently flood the entire state of Arizona.

Winner: Jayden Daniels, Commanders

Daniels will have the benefit of immediately bonding with his new teammates Terry McLaurin and Austin Ekeler over what collegiate life was like before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Loser: Drake Maye, Patriots

Maye must journey north to Boston, betraying his Confederate heritage and living amongst the Union folk as a proud born-and-raised Tar Heel.
